Summary
Northline Seafoods is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate to support and grow with the expanding Accounting and Finance Department. This role is a key contributor to our accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing, and Accounts Receivable. The role requires a collaborative approach to working with members of all departments in the company, as we support different volumes of business activity throughout the year depending on what part of our buying, production, or sales cycles we are in. This position reports to our Controller and works alongside 3 other specialized accountants.

Northline Seafoods is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate to support and grow with the expanding Accounting and Finance Department. This role is a key contributor to our accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing, and Accounts Receivable. The role requires a collaborative approach to working with members of all departments in the company, as we support different volumes of business activity throughout the year depending on what part of our buying, production, or sales cycles we are in. This position reports to our Controller and works alongside 3 other specialized accountants.
Essential Duties
- Monitor and organize the general Accounts Receivable and Payroll email inboxes, forwarding or taking action as appropriate for incoming communications
- Participate in customer onboarding and invoicing and communicating to customers about open balances
- Process and record bi-weekly payroll for both year-round and seasonal employees. We range from 20-200 employees depending on the season, with employees in multiple state jurisdictions.
- Enter payroll onboarding, medical benefit enrollments, and payroll deductions or reimbursements for employees.
- Perform regular audits as required by regulatory agencies and insurance providers.
- Assist with routine monthly general ledger entries and accrual tracking.
- Assist the team with ad-hoc analyses and projects to support financial reporting or budgeting needs
- Maintain clean and organized records of financial activities, utilizing company standard or proposing new ideas when appropriate
- Take part in learning and collaboration with the team as we undergo rapid growth and our teams continue to evolve to meet business needs
- Minimum of 1 years experience in corporate accounting
- Minimum of 3 years experience with payroll processing (experience using Gusto is a huge plus!)
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaborative nature
- Proficiency in accounting softwares, ability to adapt to new softwares as needed
- Understanding of GAAP and IFRS practices
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Excel
