The EPIC VP Of Accounting We Are Looking For
The Vice President (VP) of Accounting will lead the accounting team and report to the CFO with a strong focus on execution, people management, and process oversight. This role ensures compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information while strengthening controls and team performance. The VP of Accounting is a key leader responsible for optimizing accounting processes and partnering with leadership to support HFD’s financial and operational objectives.

The EPIC VP Of Accounting We Are Looking For
The Vice President (VP) of Accounting will lead the accounting team and report to the CFO with a strong focus on execution, people management, and process oversight. This role ensures compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information while strengthening controls and team performance. The VP of Accounting is a key leader responsible for optimizing accounting processes and partnering with leadership to support HFD’s financial and operational objectives.
As a VP Of Accounting, You Will
- Department Leadership: Own and oversee the accounting department, with direct responsibility for 7–10 accountants and managers, including the Controller.
- Day-to-Day Operations: Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure full compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other applicable requirements.
- Close & Reporting: Manage month-end and year-end close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial reporting for both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Internal Controls & Audit: Maintain and enhance internal controls; lead audit preparations and manage relationships with external auditors.
- Financial Reporting: Generate, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- People Management: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and managers to drive accountability and growth within the department.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of accounting operations.
- Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Operations, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Merchant and Payment Processing (Credit, Debit, ACH)
- Banking platforms; ACH and wire activity (Wells Fargo, Mission Bank, Axos, JPM, First Republic)
- Multiple entity accounting
- External Audit Examinations as lead or manager
- QuickBooks Online
- Microsoft Excel; Pivot Tables and Reporting
- Preferred but not required
- SOC 1 and SOC 2
- Consumer Loans and Retail Installment Contracts
- Loan management Software
- Investment Fund Accounting
- Recurring payment Management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership/people management role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with audits, internal controls, and ERP/accounting systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
