Overview

We are seeking an industrial engineer to serve as the eyes and ears of our sales team. Your mission: walk the production floor, analyze line inefficiencies, and prepare clear recommendations that position Tourmaline’s printing solutions as a natural fit. You will not be responsible for closing deals—instead, you’ll hand off fully qualified opportunities to our Senior Sales Executive, who will finalize proposals and contracts.

By focusing on discovery and value creation, you’ll reduce customer resistance, strengthen trust, and help Tourmaline expand its footprint through both direct solutions (printers/ink) and referral partnerships (conveyors, packaging, automation).

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, source, and coordinate site survey appointments with prospective customers, ensuring consistent pipeline generation.
  • Conduct 6–10 site surveys per month, mapping inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare structured reports (technical + ROI framing) that seed Tourmaline’s solutions.
  • Deliver findings to customers in a consultative manner.
  • Transition qualified opportunities to the Senior Sales Executive with clear notes and next steps.
  • Track site survey quality and conversion metrics to ensure opportunities are strong.
  • Support referral partnerships with JV vendors (e.g., conveyors, packaging, automation) when opportunities fall outside Tourmaline’s scope.
  • Travel is mandatory. Primarily West Coast, however travel may extend nationally.

Role Boundaries

  • You identify and seed.
  • Senior Sales Representative closes.

You are measured on the quality and conversion of site surveys into opportunities, not revenue closed directly.

Requirements

Success Metrics:

  • Site Surveys completed: 6–10/month.
  • Opportunity conversion: =50% of site surveys produce qualified sales opportunities.
  • Pipeline contribution: $250k–$500k monthly pipeline value from site surveys.
  • Customer trust: Post-visit rating of =8/10 (collected via short feedback form).
  • Hand-off quality: Senior Sales Executive rates =80% of opportunities as “ready-to-propose.”

Qualifications

  • Industrial Engineer - Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Background in industrial equipment, packaging, automation, or related technical field.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess production workflows.
  • Clear communicator, able to simplify technical findings for all stakeholders.
  • Curiosity-driven mindset; consultative vs. transactional approach.
  • Being bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is a huge plus.

Compensation (Temecula Market)

  • Base salary: $65k–$80k/year.
  • Bonus: $500 per qualified opportunity accepted by Senior Sales Representative (not just scheduled, but confirmed as real).
  • Commission kicker: 2% of revenue from the initial closed-won deals sourced by your site surveys.
  • JV/referral bonus: 3-10% additional incentive for each referral partner deal closed.

OTE Expectations: $100-175k+
