Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our leadership team at a fast-growing systems integration company. This role requires a deep understanding of the subcontracting industry, including contract structures, billing cycles, and revenue recognition.

This individual will be responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions, while also supporting strategic initiatives in a project-based, technology-driven environment. The Controller will be responsible for all accounting and finance functions, including job cost tracking, project financial management, budgeting, compliance, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in job-cost accounting, project-based financial tracking, subcontracting accounting, and the ability to navigate the complexities of working in a client-driven, contract-based with excellent analytical skills, and the ability to support both field and executive teams in making informed financial decisions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Developing financial strategies and forecasts to guide the company's growth and

profitability, analyzing financial data to provide insights into project performance and future financial trends.

  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Creating and managing budgets for construction projects, monitoring expenses, and

implementing cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.

  • Financial Reporting in Sage 300 and Sage Intacct: Preparing accurate and timely financial reports, including income

statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide stakeholders with a clear picture of the company's

financial performance.

  • Cash Flow Management: Managing cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations and project expenses,

monitoring accounts receivable and payable, and optimizing cash flow through effective working capital management.

  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating financial risks associated with construction projects, such as cost overruns,

project delays, and changes in market conditions, and implementing strategies to minimize these risks.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and industry standards, such as

tax laws, accounting principles, and licensing requirements, and overseeing internal controls to prevent fraud and

financial mismanagement.

  • Strategic Planning and Decision Support: Collaborating with senior management to develop strategic plans and make

informed business decisions based on financial analysis and risk assessment, identifying opportunities for growth and

profitability.

Education, Certification, Skills And/Or Abilities Required

Minimum Experience: 10 Years progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in a project-based or contracting environment

Experience in the systems integration, engineering, construction, subcontracting, automation, or technology services industries highly preferred

Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or similar field. CPA preferred but not required

Certification(s) Required: None

Abilities Required: Analytical skills, leadership skills, risk assessment skills, communication skills,

strategic skills, organization skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is

essential to this position.
