Description

ACTIA Corporation has been manufacturing quality vehicle electronics and diagnostic equipment for growing markets such as Off-Highway, Bus & Coach, Truck & Fleet, Marine and Specialty Vehicles for over 30 years. ACTIA Group is an international group based in Toulouse, France.

We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our team in Elkhart, IN. The Project Manager is a hands-on working member of the Engineering team who assists all departments in producing a smooth, efficient flow of quality work through the company. This person will have a more in-depth understanding of the products and processes, and how their work affects and interacts with the other departments. This position requires someone with a proven track record for completing projects on time and on budget with little or no supervision, demonstrating good leadership skills, and working well with other departments.

Job Specific Competencies

Project Management

  • Drives the standard APQP process for all customer and internal R & D projects
  • Creates project feasibilities, to include project timelines and requirements documents
  • Oversees the writing of the project functional specification, design and manufacturing test requirements
  • Reviews and approves the project test plans and reports (hardware, software, mechanical & system)
  • Manages project schedule and updates accordingly
  • Manages project budget and monitors variances
  • Schedules and oversees design reviews (hardware, software, mechanical & system)

Documentation

  • Creates/manages/maintains all product documentation (including all subcomponents) from project feasibility through production release.
  • Creates/manages/maintains Engineering Change Notices and associated documentation.
  • Maintains time records and project reports

Manufacturing

  • Oversees the making of all prototype parts and assemblies
  • Assists in the production startup of products; collaborating with other departments for completing prototypes and projects.

Collaboration

  • Primary liaison to customer through product development lifecycle for engineering-related activities.
  • Assists in other areas when requested

Legal Compliance

  • Ensure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirements
  • Ensure ISO procedures are followed
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Working Conditions

  • Movement - This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and on the production floor. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly required to sit, talk and hear.
  • Operate/Use - Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. copier, printer, calculator)
  • Ascend/Descend - Rarely ascends/descends stairs to reach archived files
  • Communicate - This position frequently communicates with co-workers, managers and supervisors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Transport - This position frequently lifts or moves 25 pounds, occasionally moves up to 50 pounds for various needs.
  • Work Environment - Relatively quiet but fast paced.
  • Travel - Occasional travel to customers and vendors, with overnight stays, may be required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering-related discipline
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years project management experience in an engineering-related product or service; the electronics industry is preferred.
  • Recent experience with automotive electronics or similar/related industry manufacturing, preferred.
  • Cursory experience in mechanical design and manufacturing principles and acceptable practices is required.
  • Cursory experience in software development principles and acceptable practices, preferred.
  • Leadership, excellent verbal and written communication in technical and business contexts.
