Job Summary:
As a Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician at KinderCare Learning Companies, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children by maintaining our centers for all Kindercare lines of business. Safety is our top priority, and you will work collaboratively to provide maintenance support, conduct preventative maintenance, address emergency situations, and support continuous improvement in service delivery. The Lead technician will model center facilities ownership from the street to the back fence.

Job Summary:
As a Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician at KinderCare Learning Companies, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children by maintaining our centers for all Kindercare lines of business. Safety is our top priority, and you will work collaboratively to provide maintenance support, conduct preventative maintenance, address emergency situations, and support continuous improvement in service delivery. The Lead technician will model center facilities ownership from the street to the back fence.
Core Responsibilities:
- Schedule and conduct regular preventative maintenance at assigned centers. Troubleshoot issues with field technicians and help determine if third-party vendors are needed, in partnership with the Facilities Supervisor.
- Provide support to centers that utilize outsourced facilities vendors, and audit vendor performance and provide feedback to the Facilities Supervisor. Be a point of contact for vendors and escalate concerns with work product or timelines as needed.
- Visit other facilities technician’s centers within the market to perform quality control assessments and ensure high-quality work performance in the market, ensure service level standards are being met through consistent PM checklist completion, field communication, and work order prioritization and completion.
- Take ownership of site-level projects as assigned.
- Support training efforts for new technicians within your market, including training schedules and ongoing education on new products and practices. Train techs on preventative maintenance, repairs, safety, and customer service. Provide retraining as needed.
- Serve as a back-up for facility-related emergencies, minimizing downtime and ensuring workplace safety. Be a point of contact for facilities related escalations.
- Model strong internal customer service with our center partners. Foster a positive culture of collaboration and communication between the facilities team and center staff to enhance the overall learning environment. Support facilities technicians with relationship building in their markets.
- Proficiency in operating work-related electronic equipment; (e.g., iPhone, iPad, laptop if provided). Including Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Regular in-market travel to service centers and support tech team.
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a multi-unit environment.
- Strong time management, professional communication, and organizational skills.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, roofing, construction, playground, and childcare safety, especially as it relates to KLC's responsibilities.
- Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Certifications: Trade/vocational training or certifications in areas such as playgrounds, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, and construction preferred.
