Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Strategic Projects & Business Development Manager based in our Round Rock, TX office. This hybrid role blends client-facing business development responsibilities with project management oversight in energy consulting engagements. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, client-oriented, and comfortable balancing sales pursuits with operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities in energy consulting, energy efficiency, and renewable energy markets.
- Develop proposals, presentations, and responses to RFPs/RFQs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Represent HES at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with leadership to refine growth strategies and expand market presence.
Project Management
- Lead and manage energy consulting projects from initiation through close-out, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
- Serve as the primary client point of contact throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate internal resources and subcontractors for efficient execution of deliverables.
- Track project performance, prepare progress reports, and escalate issues as needed.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with technical standards and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Sustainability, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in energy consulting, renewable energy, energy efficiency, or related industry.
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or client relationship management.
- Strong project management skills: PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and proposal-writing skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing company.
- Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with energy modeling software or CRM platforms is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel 30–50% nationwide.
Job Type: Full-time
Travel: 30–50% (nationwide, as required for client meetings, site visits, and industry events)
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
