Here at Servatron/Volex the Material Handler role plays a critical role in the logistics and supply chain industry by efficiently managing the movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center.

A typical Day in the life of a Material Handler may include the following key functions:

ü Organizing and Maintaining Inventory

ü Moving Materials Safely and Efficiently Threw the Production Plant

ü Operating Pallet Jacks and Forklifts

ü Prioritizing Tasks Based on Urgency

ü Communicating and Coordinating with Team Members and Supervisors

ü Handling Multiple Challenges such as Heavy Lifting, Physical Demands, Time Constraints, Deadlines to Meet, and Potential Safety Hazards

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Ensuring a continuous supply of materials to the production lines
  • Supplying the work centers with enough parts to meet requirements
  • Manage inventory and inventory transactions in a manner consistent with Volex policies and procedures to supply manufacturing and/or technicians with the necessary parts for manufacturing or repairing units, while maintaining physical and systemic transaction history with the highest level of quality.
  • Adjust counts in the ERP system as necessary to match physical stock
  • Assemble kits of materials to meet production needs
  • Work from requisition, order lists or stock lists to pull required items
  • Control inventory between warehouses per buyer’s instructions
  • Maintain spreadsheets of tracking information and e-mail results
  • Track down errors in inventory by input, count or disposal
  • Assist other material handlers with complex problems or issues
  • Audit materials kits for accuracy
  • Other duties, as assigned

Work environment and conditions, travel, potential hazards

  • This is an electronics field service and manufacturing environment that requires the use of safety devices including glasses with side shields and ESD equipment/ clothing.
  • This position operates on site and is not assigned for remote work
  • This position is often required to handle lead solder and paste, isopropyl alcohol, flux, RTV, and various adhesives. All assigned PPE must be utilized per Volex policy
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.

Requirements

Qualifications - Minimum

  • PC skills – Windows programs
  • Basic math and accurate counting skills
  • Read, write and understand English
  • Repetitive lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs
  • Walking through the stock aisles on concrete floors for most of shift
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a distribution/ material handling environment

Qualifications - Preferred

  • JD Edwards (software) experience
  • AA degree in Business Management or Equivalent
