Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading sourcing strategies that drive value, reduce risk, and ensure reliable supply across the nutraceutical industry. This role focuses on building strong vendor partnerships and delivering cost-effective, high-quality materials that align with organizational objectives. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define material, quality, and service requirements, while proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in supplier performance, risk management, and overall supply chain efficiency.

Education/Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field. Supply Chain Certification (CPIM, CSCP, LSSBB)
Experience
The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate. Field conditions vary.
Exposed to various raw materials, including allergens (i.e. milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nut, peanuts, wheat, soy).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly require talking, hear and grasp items. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, strong fumes, loud noises, and occasionally extreme temperatures
The employee must frequently grasp, lift and/or move items 10 pounds and occasionally grasp, lift and/or move items 33lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Additional Information
The Hourly Range for this position at Lief Labs is $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/ annual (USD). Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, skills, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, wellness benefits, education reimbursement program, and PTO.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, risk, and working capital.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure long-term, value-driven partnerships.
- Lead supplier onboarding, qualification, and ongoing performance management.
- Manage day-to-day sourcing activities, including RFIs/RFPs, contract negotiations, and material qualification.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, transparency, and proactive problem solving.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align sourcing projects with business goals and timelines.
- Monitor market trends and conduct benchmarking to anticipate pricing shifts and mitigate risk.
- Drive cost savings, value creation, and continuous improvement across raw material and packaging categories.
- Support strategic initiatives such as supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, and risk-mitigation planning.
- Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on sourcing opportunities, supply risks, and long-term category strategies.

Experience
- 5-15+ years of related experience in areas of sourcing, procurement, and / or supply chain, preferably in the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing space
- Extensive knowledge of raw ingredient & packaging sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and best practices in supply chain management
- Comprehensive understanding of ingredient and food safety and quality requirements, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
- Exceptional analytical and critical problem-solving skills, enabling the analysis of intricate data required to make informed decisions.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers and internal key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a history of leading and developing high performing teams.
- Proficiency in utilizing ERP’s and other supply chain management software.
