PSYCHOLOGICAL & BRAIN SCIENCES (BL-PSY-IUBLA)

The core mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington is to unlock the mysteries of the human brain and behavior, and to prepare students to apply that knowledge to improve the lives of people around the globe.

As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College), we are a highly multidisciplinary department, with faculty and students carrying out research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence.

We currently have over 70 full-time faculty, more than 30 department-serving staff members, 100 graduate students, 1800 undergraduate majors, 750 undergraduate minors, and offer 9 different undergraduate credentials, including a BS / BA in Psychology, a BS in Neuroscience, a BS in Organizational and Business Psychology, and certificate in Clinical Science.

  • Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results.
  • Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments.
  • Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training.
  • Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
  • May train junior-level staff.
  • May help plan experiments or short-term goals.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$20.40 per hour (Approximately $42,432.00 annualized)
