Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in ensuring the program’s success, particularly in the skill development and performance of student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of student-athletes. All staff members are expected to adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Hofstra University and fulfill the job responsibilities specific to the Women’s Basketball program. This position requires working weekends and holidays, as well as attending athletic events as appropriate.


The Assistant Coach is also responsible for possessing knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Any individual found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Additionally, the Assistant Coach may be held accountable for any act or omission that could result in the University being found in violation of NCAA regulations.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with player development in proper technique, advanced skill instruction, competition strategy, and team building.
  • Evaluates and recruits student-athletes, communicates daily with recruits, cultivates relationships, and builds partnerships with AAU programs and high schools.
  • Coordinates and documents official/unofficial visits, manages recruiting software Fast Recruit, and utilizes DV Sport/Synergy programs.
  • Evaluates the performance, conduct, and abilities of individuals and groups as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assists with program planning, develops contest preparation strategies, participates in scouting, film breakdown, practice sessions, game-day activities, and coordinates game and practice schedules.
  • Monitors compliance forms (e.g., CARA logs), travel itineraries, strength and conditioning, camps and clinics, recruitment, admissions, academic pre-reads, NLIs, academic enhancement, equipment, financial planning, budgeting, purchasing, and fundraising.
  • Participates in public relations activities, community outreach, marketing, development initiatives, and alumni engagement.
  • Manages Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
  • Assists with coordination of Underclassman Day, camps, and clinics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or athletic director.
