The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) invites applications for a Senior Reporting and Analytics Analyst position (“Senior Researcher”). A successful applicant will engage in applied health services and population health research in a project-based, team setting. The successful candidate will focus primarily on (1) applied statistical methodology; and (2) analysis and reporting of health services and population health data. This individual may also support survey design, instrumentation, and administration.

Senior Researchers are expected to perform mainly technical skill tasks, but in some cases, they may also contribute to project leadership and administration. They are expected to complete work independently on tasks with moderate complexity while assisting or completing advanced complexity tasks with appropriate assistance and oversight. Senior Researchers typically work on multiple projects at a time and have significant project responsibilities.

Typical responsibilities are project-specific and may include combinations of the following: computing summaries and descriptive statistics; conducting inferential statistical analyses; developing interactive visualizations and dashboards; cleaning, processing, and creating analytic datasets from a variety of sources; assisting with the development of measures from complex, multidimensional data sources; identifying and learning novel and improved practices for data management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; composing reports, whitepapers, and presentation materials; assisting with the presentation of results to project sponsors and other audiences; and providing technical assistance for statistical programming, research design, and interpretation of results.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (master’s degree or a PhD) in a relevant field of study is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

Candidates selected for an interview may be asked to provide a writing sample and a code sample.

Additional Desired Qualifications

Proficiency in the statistical programming language R as well as experience with evaluation design, survey sampling, causal inference, small area estimation, and/or statistical modelling.

An advanced degree in statistics, biostatistics, or other relevant fields of study along with experience in applied health services or population health research is preferred. Experience with difference-in-difference methods, writing code for reproducible and efficient workflows, including the use of Git for version control, is also preferred.
