Responsibilities*

Provide independent and collaborative data analytic support for the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium (HMS) to improve the quality of care for hospitalized medical patients. Work as a member of a data analytics team consisting of Data Analysts, Statisticians, and Program Evaluation Specialists and Physicians performing data management, programming, analysis, report building, and survey design. Work with stakeholders, team members, and end users to identify and understand clinical data collections needs, challenges, and opportunities; prepare data collection tools; build reports, graphs, or dashboards for research with user-friendly data visualizations; write, test and implement programs to clean, merge, and analyze and maintain large complex datasets using SAS, MySQL, Python tools and libraries among others; prepare and maintain technical documentation of data and analysis files; maintain, clean, and organize datasets for statisticians; collaborate with internal teams and external vendors in the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of technical data collection and specifications. Occasional evening and weekend work. Up to 100% remote work from home.

Required Qualifications*

Requires Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biostatistics/Statistics or closely related field + 1 year of experience: performing clinical data management, programming, and analysis using SAS, MySQL, and Python tools and libraries, including Pandas, Numpy, Jupyer-lab, Matplotlib; conducting data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation (ETL) tasks to prepare data for statistical analysis; using Tableau and GIT and Bitbucket version control; performing website front-end development and updates using PHP and Javascript; and building reports and survey design using Qualtrics and Lime Survey.

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
