Summary

Lithion Battery works closely with OEM manufacturers and end users to provide custom, high-quality power solutions for critical applications where reliability is paramount.

The Drafter / CAD Designer supports the Engineering Department by preparing detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. This role focuses on accuracy, standards compliance, and document control to ensure engineering designs are translated correctly into manufacturing and production-ready files. The Drafter works under the direction of engineers to update, revise, and maintain drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to engineering and industry standards.
  • Generate part, assembly, and manufacturing drawings with proper dimensioning, GD&T, and tolerances.
  • Prepare and update bills of materials (BOMs) and maintain drawing archives in accordance with company PLM processes.
  • Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings.
  • Assist engineers in preparing drawings and layouts for prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and assemblies.
  • Ensure revision control and documentation accuracy for all released drawings and CAD data.
  • Support design reviews by providing clear and accurate drawing packages for review and approval.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure drawings are manufacturable and support smooth handoff to manufacturing.
  • Perform routine updates to CAD libraries, templates, and drawing standards to ensure consistency.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audits, compliance, or customer submissions as required.
  • Perform additional drafting and documentation tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Key Compentencies

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in drafting, mechanical design, or related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and 2D drafting); knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software a plus.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerancing, and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and translate engineering concepts into precise documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Experience working with PLM systems and engineering change processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as sheet metal, machining, or injection molding.
  • Prior experience drafting for battery systems, electronics, or similar technical products.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management standards.
