We are in search of product owners who can lead with purpose and clarity.


Being a product owner on SAIF’s IT insurance solutions team means being at the center of high-impact software solutions that support core insurance operations.


Our new product owners will support all three teams under the insurance solutions umbrella: claims, case, and policy management—all critical functions that empower our employees and serve Oregon’s business community.


We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering value in a collaborative, transparent, and continuously improving environment. We need product owners to lead the prioritization of development work for delivery teams, from intake and refinement to post-deployment enhancements.


In this role you’ll work closely with solution delivery managers, product managers, and architects to align business needs with technology roadmaps and ensure that development efforts are sequenced effectively and executed with precision.


This is a strategic role—critical to SAIF’s mission to modernize enterprise systems and improve customer experience. You’ll lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that business requirements are translated into actionable user stories and that stakeholder feedback is continuously incorporated.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform product owner responsibilities on the software solutions program supporting the development process, representing customer/user experience (CX/UX) priorities.
  • Lead backlog prioritization and refinement process for the delivery team, ensuring that all business requirements and functional specifications are reflected accurately.
  • Ensure that approved user stories for each sprint reflect the business requirements supportive of related epics and features in the backlog.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure that requirements and acceptance criteria are understood and reflected in user stories.
  • Approve completed user stories in alignment with acceptance criteria.
  • Support program leadership in partnering with enterprise stakeholders to solicit and incorporate other feedback from customers and internal/external partners to inform product roadmap planning.
  • Partner with and support other divisions’ business owners in development of new software solutions.
  • Support the Director and Solution Delivery Manager(s) in working with business partners across all divisions to incorporate goals and objectives of each division, and to meet the needs of SAIF customers.
  • Support the Director and Solution Delivery Manager(s) in analyzing the impact of new solutions on existing operations and provide recommendations on potential opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with analysis and research subject matter experts to assess usage data, customer feedback, and usability testing data, to recommend improvements to the customer/user experience.
  • Explore diverse perspectives and consistently behave sensitively toward differences in cultural norms, expectations, and ways of communicating. Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or work styles.


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support team objectives and organizational goals, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving priorities and needs.


RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in software product development, or relevant experience as part of a cross functional software development team; experience in insurance industry a plus.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.
