Lucideon M+P is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Corrosion Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Schenectady, NY, working on cutting-edge materials degradation research in demanding nuclear environments.

This role is ideal for a postdoctoral researcher professional with hands-on experience in high-temperature aqueous corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) or material science , and a passion for applied research that makes a real-world impact.

At Lucideon M+P, we specialize in solving complex materials and process challenges across industries including Nuclear, Healthcare, Energy, Aerospace, and Defense. We are expanding our capabilities to better serve our clients through advanced research in Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC)from crack initiation to crack growth modelling, in both current and next-generation reactor environments.

Who You Are

You’re a driven materials scientist or corrosion engineer who thrives on experimentation and collaborative problem-solving. You combine strong technical knowledge with curiosity and initiative to contribute to real-world commercial research projects. You have:

  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Corrosion Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SCC mechanisms, high-temperature corrosion, and / or electrochemical testing in nuclear-relevant environments.
  • Experience designing, executing, and interpreting corrosion experiments—preferably under applied load in simulated reactor environments.
  • Working familiarity with molten salts, lower temperature corrosion, and failure analysis using microstructural characterization techniques would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to engage both clients and colleagues.
  • Have the ability to work with export controlled / ITAR information and requirements.

What You’ll Do

In this hands-on role, you will:

  • Design and perform experiments on nuclear-grade alloys under BWR/PWR and other corrosive environments.
  • Operate and maintain test rigs for long-term exposure testing under load and corrosive media.
  • Analyze post-test specimens using advanced microscopy and characterization tools.
  • Collaborate closely with test technicians, materials scientists, and project managers to deliver high-quality results to clients.
  • Contribute to predictive modeling of behavior and help develop mitigation strategies for reactor systems.
  • Author technical reports and support presentations at key industry conferences.

Innovate testing approaches and contribute to internal method development efforts.
