JOB SUMMARY
As a Power Systems Design Engineer in Burnsville, MN, you may: design custom power distribution (medium-voltage) equipment following UL 1008, UL 508, UL 891 and UL 1558 standards; ensure custom designs align with manufacturing capabilities, compliance, and customer specifications; improve engineering efficiency through workflows, automations, and cross-functional collaboration; manage electrical design documentation and Bill of Materials (BOMs) through PLM, ERP, and/or Engineering Vault systems; define electrical specifications and component selection for switchgears, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and generators; investigate emerging technologies in power distribution, energy storage, and/or smart grid systems, and work collaboratively with suppliers and other Applied partners.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical design software required
- Experience with product documentation to support manufacturing
- Ability to design safe and effective tests for powered prototypes
- A minimum of one year of related engineering experience; internships and co-ops can be considered for this position
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, derivative standards, and codes for grid-connected systems
- Experience crafting Bills of Materials (BOMs) for a product
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or E-Plan a plus
- Capable of working independently and as a team member
- Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
- Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Desire to work on a variety of projects
