Caregiver OneCall is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing 24/7 emotional support, resource navigation, and real-time help to unpaid family caregivers across California. Whether someone is caring for a child with autism, a partner with chronic illness, a parent with dementia, or even themselves, we are here. No caregiver should have to do it alone. And caregivers deserve care too.

We are growing fast and need passionate volunteers to help us sustain our impact through grant funding.

Volunteer Role Grant Writer

We are seeking a detail-oriented, mission-driven volunteer to help research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals. As a grant writer, you will work directly with our founder and leadership team to secure funding that supports hotline operations, caregiver outreach, mobile respite services, and culturally responsive programming.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources
  • Draft clear, persuasive proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant applications
  • Collaborate with team members to gather stories, data, and impact metrics
  • Maintain a grant calendar with deadlines, submission dates, and reporting timelines
  • Support follow-up reports, thank-you letters, and donor updates
  • Help craft narratives that center real caregiver experiences and equity

Skills Needed

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or philanthropic language
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Experience with Google Docs or Microsoft Word
  • Previous grant writing experience is required

Time Commitment

  • 10 to 15 hours per month
  • Flexible schedule, remote-friendly
  • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
