This role plays a vital part in supporting physicians, registered nurses, and the overall surgical team to ensure smooth, safe, and effective procedure days. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Registered Nurses during pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of patient care.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including initial intake, vitals, and comfort measures.
- Support physicians with all procedural needs to ensure efficient clinical workflows.
- Monitor and care for patients before and after surgery.
- Perform floor duties including but not limited to:
- Waste disposal and management
- Equipment sanitization and turnover
- Docking stations and OR room prep/maintenance
- Document accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Take and record vital signs, and assist with clinical charting and documentation tasks.
- Assist with organizing, disseminating, and storing patient records and treatment plans.
- Ensure smooth daily operations by identifying and addressing any needs that arise throughout the day.
- Maintain medical inventory and communicate supply needs to leadership.
- Uphold infection control and safety standards in all patient care and facility protocols.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical assistant role; OBL or surgical center experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong communication skills, professional and personable demeanor.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a collaborative team.
- High degree of critical thinking, situational awareness, and problem-solving.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative on miscellaneous and ad hoc tasks.
- Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certified Medical Assistant credential (required)
- Current BLS Certification (required)
