Location: Brooklyn, NY – Office-Based Lab (OBL)

Schedule: Full-Time | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Reports To: OBL Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at the Brooklyn Office-Based Lab (OBL). This role plays a vital part in supporting physicians, registered nurses, and the overall surgical team to ensure smooth, safe, and effective procedure days. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Registered Nurses during pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of patient care.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including initial intake, vitals, and comfort measures.
  • Support physicians with all procedural needs to ensure efficient clinical workflows.
  • Monitor and care for patients before and after surgery.
  • Perform floor duties including but not limited to:
    • Waste disposal and management
    • Equipment sanitization and turnover
    • Docking stations and OR room prep/maintenance
  • Document accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Take and record vital signs, and assist with clinical charting and documentation tasks.
  • Assist with organizing, disseminating, and storing patient records and treatment plans.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations by identifying and addressing any needs that arise throughout the day.
  • Maintain medical inventory and communicate supply needs to leadership.
  • Uphold infection control and safety standards in all patient care and facility protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical assistant role; OBL or surgical center experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication skills, professional and personable demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a collaborative team.
  • High degree of critical thinking, situational awareness, and problem-solving.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative on miscellaneous and ad hoc tasks.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.


Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential (required)
  • Current BLS Certification (required)
