We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time Medical Receptionist at our Brooklyn Gastroenterology & Endoscopy site in Brooklyn, NY.

About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist 1 at Brooklyn Gastroenterology & Endoscopy (BGE) serves as the vital first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is essential in managing patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and coordinating communication between patients and medical staff. The receptionist will handle administrative duties such as managing patient records, processing insurance information, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations. By providing exceptional customer service and accurate information, the Medical Receptionist 1 supports the smooth operation of the clinic and contributes to positive patient experiences. Ultimately, this position plays a key role in facilitating effective healthcare delivery within the gastroenterology and endoscopy specialty at BGE.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a gastroenterology or endoscopy clinic.
  • Proficiency with specific EHR software used at BGE.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in the Brooklyn area.
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing and insurance verification processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival at the clinic.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical or administrative personnel.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of patient charts and medical records for physician review.
  • Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries as needed.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Manage waiting area to ensure a clean, organized, and comfortable environment for patients.

The Medical Receptionist 1 utilizes strong organizational and multitasking skills daily to manage patient appointments and maintain accurate records efficiently. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, ensuring clear and compassionate exchanges. Proficiency with EHR systems and office software enables the receptionist to input and retrieve patient data accurately, supporting clinical workflows. Attention to detail is critical when verifying insurance information and processing payments to avoid errors and delays. Additionally, problem-solving skills help address patient concerns and scheduling conflicts promptly, contributing to a positive patient experience and smooth clinic operations.
