We are seeking a Director, Data Engineering to lead the development and execution of our informatics and data infrastructure. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will partner with scientific and technical teams to design and deliver scalable, high-impact data solutions, enabling our in silico-driven drug discovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and execution of informatics and data systems supporting both discovery and pre-clinical research.
  • Guide smooth transitions between discovery and pre-clinical informatics to meet evolving scientific needs.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement technology platforms and vendors that advance scientific productivity and decision making.
  • Partner with scientific leadership to design efficient, scalable, and fit-for-purpose data systems.
  • Oversee data architecture, pipelines, and interoperability, ensuring seamless capture, storage, and retrieval across lab and computational teams.
  • Manage LIMS/ELN platforms (e.g., CDD) and integrate lab automation tools with data management workflows.
  • Direct the development of both user-facing applications and back-end infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous data governance standards for quality, integrity, provenance, and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with scientists to gather requirements and deliver solutions that accelerate research.
  • Champion organizational change, and mentor colleagues in informatics systems and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record defining and delivering informatics strategies across discovery and pre-clinical research.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing scientific technology platforms.
  • Skilled in designing and managing scientific data pipelines and architecture.
  • Ability to integrate lab automation with data management systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and git-based development.
  • Hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and LIMS/ELN systems (e.g., CDD).
  • Knowledge of IND submission requirements, including traceability, audit trails, and data standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and scientific teams.
  • Leadership experience driving change in a fast-moving organization.
