The role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced technical leader to join our team as the Technical Manager for the Bristol Centre for Digital Futures.
In this key role, you will be responsible for the technical management of the Centre’s facilities, ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective technical services. As a member of the local senior management team, you will lead and direct technical service teams, providing strategic oversight and day-to-day operational guidance. You will also be responsible for the management of delegated budgets and will provide line management to technical managers or senior technical staff.

What will you be doing?
- Provide strategic leadership for technical services across the Centre, including deputising for senior management and chairing local technical planning committees.
- Lead and manage technical staff, offering direction, guidance, and support on service development, performance, and conduct issues.
- Plan and shape technical service provision to meet operational needs, managing budgets and prioritising resources effectively.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to influence and negotiate on technical service and resource matters.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and safety, upholding the highest standards in line with organisational and statutory requirements.
- Enhance the student experience by directing technical teams to deliver high-quality, cohesive support and services.
- Proven leadership and management experience, including leading significant technical teams and driving continuous improvement and change.
- Strong organisational and delegation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, risks, and conflict effectively.
- Experience in operational safety, risk management, and financial planning, including budget control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Resilient and innovative, with the ability to inspire a forward-thinking approach in others.
- Relevant qualification and professional experience, supported by management or leadership training.
