About The Role
We are seeking a Food Processing Engineer to join our R&D team on a contract basis. In this role, you will lead process development projects for high-moisture foods such as dips, spreads, condiments, and sauces. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, optimize processing techniques, and provide technical support during trials and commercialization at manufacturing facilities.

About The Role
We are seeking a Food Processing Engineer to join our R&D team on a contract basis. In this role, you will lead process development projects for high-moisture foods such as dips, spreads, condiments, and sauces. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, optimize processing techniques, and provide technical support during trials and commercialization at manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of high-moisture food processes, optimizing for quality and efficiency
- Partner with engineers to define process designs and optimize process settings
- Collaborate with food scientists to refine formulations and ingredient selections
- Drive quality improvements through process optimization and thermal process steps
- Utilize experimental design and data analysis to make technically sound recommendations
- Support plant trials and commercialization efforts at manufacturing facilities
- Perform basic analytical measurements such as moisture, pH, color, and viscosity (training provided)
- Independently identify resources and organize experiments
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders
- Education: BS in Food Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid flow, unit operations, food chemistry, ingredient functionality
- Experience: 1–2 years research experience in food processing or 2+ internships in the field
- Familiarity with experimental design and product development
- Strong teamwork, communication, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to adapt to change, self-starter with a strong work ethic
