Position Overview

The Data Coordinator for the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) will support student data collection, analysis, and reporting, particularly concerning Student Testing Number (STN) assignment and resolution. This role requires a strong understanding of technical data management, SQL, and Microsoft applications, along with the ability to communicate effectively with district personnel and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and quality of collected data.

Please note: this role does not allow for any form of remote work, including telecommuting or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence. Prospective candidates should be aware that the responsibilities associated with this role require physical presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field [official transcripts required upon hire];
  • Three (3) years of customer service experience in IT or data;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data management experience;
  • Familiarity with educational data systems.

  • Data Collection & Validation: Collaborate with district personnel to validate and improve data collection processes, particularly related to the STN assignment; Assist with the validation and quality assurance of student data using web-based software to support Local Education Agencies (LEAs); Use and interpret technical manuals and publications to assist in data-related problem-solving and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • District & Stakeholder Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for Superintendents and district personnel regarding the cleaning, interpretation, and resolution of data collections and reports; Communicate with LEAs and stakeholders to resolve data needs, address report errors, and resolve issues with data OSDE collects.
  • Technical Documentation & Training: Assist in the creation of technical documents, maintain document repositories, and support the organization of information for internal and external use; Develop and implement training programs for STN assignment and resolution processes for LEA and state staff; Assist in conducting workshops and training sessions as required by the Director of Student Information.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Collaborate with data analysts and other staff on district and state reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state data requirements; Understand and assist in the execution of ad hoc SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Office Management & Administration: Screen and manage incoming calls and visitors, providing needed information or directing them to the appropriate official; Maintain accurate logs of issues that require escalation to data analysts or other team members.
  • Project Management: Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks related to data collection, report preparation, and office management; Coordinate and track progress on data-related projects, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Location: Oliver Hodge Building, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

  • Work Environment includes:
    • Office Setting: Climate-controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise; the employee is frequently required to talk, walk, and stand; this position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Physical Demands include:
    • Ability to stand, reach, and bend 50% of the time;
    • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, and office telephone 75% of the time;
    • Ascends/descends stairs 25% of the time;
    • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
  • Cognitive Requirements:
    • This role requires clear and accurate communication, strong analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate information and make timely decisions.
