General Purpose of Job:
Monitors sterilizers and environment for sterilization, and processes instruments and supplies for use and reuse in a safe and timely manner to meet surgical and other patient care needs within the hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Break down and decontaminate instruments following procedure according to protocols.
- Set up trays and prepare for sterilization.
- Sterilize instruments and supplies according to Operating Room, Central Processing and manufacturer protocols and standards.
- Monitors sterilization process and maintains daily, permanent record of sterilization parameters according to hospital protocols and local, state and AAMI. standards.
- Maintains a clean environment by following daily cleaning protocol.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and instruments.
- Other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Related hospital experience of minimum of 1 year in care of instruments, equipment or supplies, preferred.
- Certification by AHCSP preferred
