The STRONG Kids Assistant will assist in providing quality care in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment for all children and families that utilize the YMCA STRONG Kids program. All STRONG Kids staff will be responsible for the overall success of day-to-day operations of the STRONG Kids program, as well as being responsible for the high-quality childcare, which includes, but is not limited to, meeting internal and external child and parent needs. Ensures all participants are afforded a quality experience and programs reflect the YMCA core values honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Hours vary Monday through Saturday, approximately 12-15 hours per week.

- Provides supervisory support at the YMCA M-F 8-11am, M-Th 4-7pm, and Saturday 8am-12pm.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, inventory, incident reports, etc.).
- Ensure that all staff, children, and parents are respectful of YMCA property; ensure all STRONG Kids rules are followed and enforced.
- Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers.
- Maintain open communication with the School Age Director and Coordinator.
- Comply with the daily cleaning procedures outlined on the cleaning list.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Certifications CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification, Child Abuse Prevention, Mandated Reporter within 30 days of hire.
- 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods of time.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- Ability to interact with and demonstrate program activities to youth.
