Position Overview
Burnett Therapeutic Services (BTS) is a leading behavioral and mental health agency dedicated to supporting children and families across California. We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Onboarding Specialist to join our team. This role plays a key part in ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and organized onboarding experience for new hires, including Behavior Technicians, Supervisors, BCBAs, and Mental Health Therapists. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service to both staff and colleagues.

This role plays a key part in ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and organized onboarding experience for new hires, including Behavior Technicians, Supervisors, BCBAs, and Mental Health Therapists. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service to both staff and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- New Hire Onboarding Support
- Collect, verify, and organize required documentation such as certifications, credentials, educational degrees, and licenses.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date onboarding records for all incoming staff.
- Provide clear communication and guidance to new hires to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Schedule onboarding training sessions and coordinate with the training team to ensure timely completion.
- Answer new hire questions throughout the onboarding process.
- Streamlining processes in Asana
- Supporting the implementation of making the onboarding experience more engaging.
- Review completed employee files for accuracy before they are sent for approval.
- Collaboration Across Teams
- Partner with the recruiting team to support hiring and retention efforts.
- Work closely with the scheduling team to align onboarding timelines with program needs.
- Coordinate with the training team to ensure all onboarding training requirements are met.
- Customer Service
- Serve as a primary point of contact for new hires, answering questions and providing support throughout their onboarding experience.
- Conduct welcome calls to ensure a positive first impression and offer assistance as needed.
- Administrative & Reporting
- Assist with weekly onboarding reports and status updates.
- Answer phone calls, route inquiries, and respond to general information requests.
- Print, update, and maintain employee files in compliance with agency policies.
- Assist with mailing letters, staff gifts, and other materials to employees’ addresses.
- Record Maintenance
- Ensure personnel files remain complete and organized, both digitally and physically.
- Update employee records promptly when new documents or changes occur.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong professional communication skills.
- 1-2 years of direct work experience in an administrative office position
- Google Suite experience (Drive, sheets, docs, etc.), Microsoft excel experience.
- An open, friendly, energetic, and flexible attitude is a must!
- Highly organized with attention to detail, and the ability to track and maintain many different tasks.
- Experienced, stable, reliable, proactive team player
- Live locally, and own reliable transportation.
- A compassionate person who likes helping people
- Ability to work independently, and is an effective communicator
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but not required
- Ability to submit Department of Justice Clearance
- Ability to submit MMR and chickenpox immunizations
- ability to submit Pa hysical stating fit for duty
- Ability to submit CPR certification
- Must be energetic, FUN, and enthusiastic about working with a diverse population of clients.
