Senior Director of Operations

• Build and lead high-performing operations and engineering teams to support scale and quality.

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Operations will lead operations and engineering across multiple processing and packaging facilities. This role is responsible for operational excellence, scaling engineering capabilities, and executing strategic site development initiatives. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this individual will drive performance, capacity growth, and long-term infrastructure investment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee plant management, engineering, maintenance, and EHS across multiple facilities.
• Build and scale the engineering function, ensuring knowledge transfer and succession planning.
• Mentor and develop future leaders in operations and engineering.
• Establish robust KPIs, performance management systems, and continuous improvement practices.
• Drive long-term strategic planning for facility expansions, including greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Oversee capital planning (CAPEX), annual operating plans (AOP), and project execution.
• Partner with executive leadership on a 5–10 year roadmap for capacity growth and process innovation.
• Lead execution of major development projects, including expansions and new equipment installations.
• Support site acquisitions, M&A initiatives, and co-manufacturing partnerships.
• Lead capacity planning to optimize infrastructure and asset utilization.
• Develop scalable infrastructure strategies that balance immediate needs with long-term investments.
• Implement risk management strategies across supply chain, workforce planning, and compliance.
• Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing operational insights for decision-making.
• Align operations with finance, supply chain, and commercial functions.
• Own and report on operational KPIs, ensuring accountability across functions.
• Represent Operations in board-level or executive meetings as required.
• Manage multi-million-dollar operational and capital budgets.
• Ensure disciplined investments aligned with growth strategies and return on capital.
• Drive cost optimization while maintaining quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Strong background in food processing; grain and/or bottling experience preferred.
• Proven success in CAPEX and AOP planning with divisional or enterprise-level budget accountability.
• Experience leading USDA-regulated operations and facility development.
• Demonstrated success in succession planning, organizational design, and scaling teams.
• Knowledge of co-manufacturing agreements and facility contracts.
• Track record of building and leading high-performing, multi-site teams.
