  • Special events may require occasional evening or Saturday work hours.
  • Community sites will be located in the DFW area and include the cities of Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Dallas.
  • There are some outdoor fairs and events that include youth and adults.
  • Majority of work is in schools and community centers with children and youth.
  • Regular travel to community sites as needed.
  • The position is Grant-funded and is expected to continue until 8/31/2029.

Salary Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience. Pay Basis Monthly Job Summary

The Social Worker I position works in the Youth Prevention (YP) program at the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies (CARS) as a Prevention Specialist. This position works with at-risk youth from grades 1-12 in local schools and other community sites. The Prevention Specialist facilitates groups with students, hosts interactive educational activities about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), and conducts outreach events. There is also education for adults and managing tables at fairs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Program Delivery: Delivers assigned prevention / intervention programs with quality and fidelity. Develops replicable models for non-curriculum-based activities, such as alternative activities or ATOD education.
  • Supervises assigned interns as Field Supervisor or Task Manager to ensure compliance with YP program and School of Social Work Field Office requirements.
  • Gathers accurate information and submits programmatic reports within required time frames.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the YP programs, CARS operations and School of Social Work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Master’s Social Worker.
  • Two (2) years of post-degree social work experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to travel to various community locations as part of job responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Ability to work with children, youth and adults.
  • Skilled at engaging individuals and facilitating groups.
  • Knowledge of social work interventions and code of ethics.
  • Ability to implement programs with fidelity.
