- Travel: Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.

- Build and maintain relationships with employers, chambers of commerce, unions, apprenticeship programs, and workforce boards. Promote the value of hiring veterans, educate employers on incentives (Work Opportunity Tax Credit, Federal Bonding, OJT), and ensure Priority of Service in all Department of Labor (DOL)-funded programs.
- Partner with Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists to match veterans’ skills with employer needs. Develop job leads, apprenticeships, and training opportunities, and connect case-managed veterans—including Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E) clients—with immediate employment prospects.
- Plan and facilitate job fairs, job clubs, employer panels, and workshops to connect veterans with employers and prepare them for success. Provide technical assistance to employers and promote credentialing and licensing pathways for veterans.
- Work with American Job Center (AJC) managers and Business Services Teams to coordinate outreach, deliver training to staff, and ensure consistent veteran services. Track and report employer contacts, job developments, and placements in EmployOklahoma and maintain compliance with federal mandates.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of: Workforce development practices, veterans’ preference requirements, and applicable employment laws and policies. One-stop workforce initiatives, community service providers, and social assistance resources. Labor market trends, employment practices, and occupational needs.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to present information clearly and build effective relationships. Collaborating with employers, partners, and veteran clients to expand employment opportunities. Using technology, including Microsoft Office and case management systems, to support outreach and reporting.
- Ability to: Work effectively and courteously with diverse populations while exercising sound judgment and decision-making. Interpret and apply state and federal laws related to veterans’ programs, workforce services, and social services. Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems; evaluate situations and select appropriate courses of action. Communicate ideas clearly, present information accurately, and prepare concise reports.
- Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires regular periods of sitting or standing and daily use of a computer and phone. It also requires the occasional use of office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
- Education & Experience Requirements for this position require five years of experience in employment services, career or vocational guidance and counseling, personnel, recruitment, training, customer service, or social services-related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university substituting for three years of the required work experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in employer outreach, workforce development, or veteran services; familiarity with federal and state workforce programs such as WIOA and JVSG; and knowledge of veteran employment resources, transition assistance, and labor market trends.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), Internet use, and the ability to learn additional software as needed.
- Physical Requirement: Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Veteran Requirement: Applicants must be U.S. Armed Forces veterans and eligible for veterans’ preference under Title 74 O.S. Supp. Section 840.15.
