The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer. This is a state position governed by the Civil Service Rules, in state government located in Oklahoma City, OK.  OMMA offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is up to $70,000 based on education and experience.

Position Summary

This position will work directly for the Creative Services Manager to create graphic design projects supporting all agency service areas. The Graphic Designer will work with internal clients to design, produce, edit and execute projects to promote agency functions. This position may work on designing and producing high-quality and cost-effective artwork involving a considerable variety of media, including print, web, social media and video. As a member of the Communications Department, the Graphic Designer must be able to work on tight deadlines.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Creates content, layout, design, and final art elements logo, artwork, images, illustrations, colors, typography, and other graphic elements.
  • Designs, prepares, fabricates, and updates layouts for publications, presentations, reports, social media, webpages, certificates, diagrams, flyers, and other public documents to include the agency’s annual report.
  • Manages internal and external website maintenance in collaboration with the Creative Services Manager.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized guidelines for displaying and utilizing logos and branding materials to strengthen the OMMA brand identity.
  • Collaborates with OMMA employees to produce and finalize content.
  • Maintains and archives all records, negatives, original art, and other related work.
  • Maintains the proper legal protection of real and intellectual property.
  • Corrects and edits photographic images.
  • Assists Communications Department staff with OMMA’s internal/external events.
  • Collaborates with staff members to gather data/details, etc. to execute planned content.
  • Supports the Communications Department in delivering timely, accurate information and keeping the public informed of updates and changes.
  • Creates and maintains updated communications and collateral materiels about OMMA, including slide decks, newsletters, web content, contact cards, canned responses, and annual reports.
  • Prepares and distributes the department’s daily media report to all staff, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy; generate additional reports as requested to support internal communications and strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Provides training and technical assistance to internal staff.

Education And Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a technical or associate degree in visual communications, design, graphic or commercial art or closely related field and three years of experience in producing projects such as brochures, signage, or other related work using digital technology; or sixty semester hours from a college or university with twelve semester hours in marketing, visual communications, mass communications, photography, advertising or design and three years of experience in producing print media or other related electronic media using digital technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include the ability to operate and utilize digital graphic software applications on Macintosh and/or PC based systems or other related design equipment; to follow instructions; to develop original creative work from general descriptions and with minimal supervision; to organize and archive digital information; to track jobs; to conduct asset management; to initiate and schedule timelines; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to create effective products that communicate to a specific audience; to manage multiple projects; to produce design concepts, draw thumbnails and render illustrations; to establish color management; to select effective typography; to conduct photo scanning and editing; to create vector-based graphics including selecting the proper paper and grain direction; to use advanced digital software applications; to produce color matchups and prepress proofs; to electronically transfer digital documents for printing on a high-end four color press; to convert layouts to PDF for Web imaging and video production; to determine correct print production techniques for four color press and color printers; to select the proper paper for specific outputs; to prepare electronic prepress files for output; to plan and produce web and video productions; and to use electronic prepress, photo manipulation, vector graphic creation, web page development and video production hardware and software.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone.
