Summary

Job Description

This position will oversee the vegetation management, tree trimmer, support technician and locator programs in a manor consistent with Chugach construction plans and initiatives. Additionally, this position will manage division contracts, compliance with regulations, and maintain a positive relationship with members.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the Tree Trimmer, Locate, Support Technician divisions, overseeing the in-house vegetation management operations are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Direct, plan and implement vegetation management practices and procedures consistent with operations and Chugach initiatives.
  • Manage division contracts to verify schedule and budget regarding the Transmission and Distribution Right-of-Way clearing.
  • Plan and implement locate management services consistent with Chugach goals.
  • Manage and administer the Locate Services Contract and provide direction for utility locate services.
  • Prepare and present capital and operating budgets relating to Divisions and contracts.
  • Track actual performance against budgets. Report significant departures from budget to appropriate management and generate designed reports.
  • Manage and coordinate efforts to correct hazardous conditions.
  • Schedule, assign, and direct divisional personnel to achieve maximum efficiency of available resources.
  • Manage and verify division operations are in compliance with regulatory requirements and Chugach policy.
  • Manage, direct, and evaluate work performance. Complete performance appraisals based on Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  • Compile and validate information required for Member Services to support damage claims created by divisional functions
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to investigate and resolve damage claims and charges.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibility for the Tree Trimmer, Locator division and the Line Operations Support technician personnel.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent field trips, at times in outage situations, requiring work until conditions are resolved. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, required. Ability to complete First Aid/CPR and AED training, within 6 months from date of hire.

Experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in operations in the field involving vegetation clearance and locate management, required, including supervisory responsibility. Experience working in a union environment preferred.

Substitution

Additional professional experience in a similarly complex role or related field may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
