Senior Communications Strategist

Fehr & Peers

Date: 8 hours ago
City: Roseville, CA
Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 per year
Contract type: Full time
You’ll join our eight-person Corporate Communications team, working alongside a fellow Communications Strategist who focuses on external channels. Your focus will be about 70% internal communications, ensuring our 400+ staff across multiple offices have the clarity and connection they need, while spending roughly 30% of your time supporting external projects as a thought partner and second set of eyes on high-visibility content. The pace of internal work will ebb and flow with major initiatives—during peaks you’ll lead the way, and during quieter periods you’ll pivot to support external priorities.

You’ll help staff navigate change, build clarity across offices, and share stories that strengthen connection and culture. You’ll also play a key role in helping staff use our brand tools and templates so their communications look consistent and professional. In this role, you will:

Lead Internal Communications

  • Keep our intranet relevant and easy to navigate, so staff can quickly find what they need
  • Maintain an internal editorial calendar, planning updates, webinars, and announcements
  • Create clear, engaging messages for major organizational changes, helping staff understand what’s happening and why
  • Use feedback and analytics to improve how we communicate inside the company
  • Help staff use our brand tools — such as templates and guidelines — so their materials look consistent and professional
  • Suggest updates to templates, graphics, and other resources to make them more useful and easy to use
  • Work with your strategist partner to share responsibility for social media monitoring and engagement, maintaining a shared editorial calendar for balance and consistency

Create and Share Great Content

  • Write, edit, and design messages for emails, intranet posts, webinars, and campaigns
  • Work with technical experts to turn complex topics into stories that connect to our shared goals
  • Collaborate with designers to create visuals that make our stories even stronger
  • Support occasional external projects when our audiences or messages overlap

Spot Opportunities and Strengthen Stories

  • Spot and share stories that build connection across offices and highlight the work of our people
  • Surface cultural and project leads with potential to grow into external-facing opportunities
  • Serve as a thought partner and second set of eyes on high-visibility content.

Champion Clarity and Connection

  • Make sure all messages reflect our voice, tone, and values
  • Look for new ways to keep staff informed and engaged
  • Encourage open conversation and invite ideas to make our communications better

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
  • 4+ years in internal or corporate communications, with strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience managing intranet platforms and creating employee-focused content
  • Ability to use analytics to guide decisions
  • A collaborative mindset and curiosity for learning

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Box, or WordPress
  • Skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Express, or Canva
  • Familiarity with the transportation, architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role with 2 days/week in the Roseville office
  • Occasional travel to the Walnut Creek office (usually quarterly)
  • Collaborate virtually with colleagues across multiple locations
