This role reports to the Managing Director of SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy and is primarily responsible for overseeing the completeness and accuracy of financial reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The Director of SEC Reporting plays a key role in shaping disclosure strategy, driving process improvements, and maintaining strong governance and internal control over financial reporting.

Overview
This role reports to the Managing Director of SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy and is primarily responsible for overseeing the completeness and accuracy of financial reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The Director of SEC Reporting plays a key role in shaping disclosure strategy, driving process improvements, and maintaining strong governance and internal control over financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), SEC reporting rules, and company policies
- Draft and refine disclosures through collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Treasury, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Investor Relations, and the Lines of Business
- Prepare the financial reporting calendar and Audit and Disclosure Committee meeting materials Identify and implement disclosure improvements to enhance the transparency and accuracy of financial reporting through self-assessments and benchmarking against industry peers
- Execute internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), including the review of financial statement and footnote tie-outs, statement of cash flows worksheet, fluctuation analyses, etc.
- Conduct research on accounting topics to ensure adherence to US GAAP and SEC rules, as needed
- Assist with special projects from inception to completion, as needed
- Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits by responding to audit inquiries
- Support internal control and process improvement initiatives through coordination with the SOX Program Office and First Line Control Office
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- 7–10 years of experience in Accounting, with experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role managing multiple people and projects
- Experience in financial services, particularly depository and lending institutions, is a plus
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting rules, and SOX compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to draft and present complex financial information clearly to peers and management
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Detail-oriented with effective prioritization and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and Workiva/WDesk
- This role will be based in Stamford, CT; Waterbury, CT locations.
