Department Specific Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the program, including, but not limited to, practice planning, game preparation/scouting, in-game coaching, recruiting, budget management, scheduling, team travel (if applicable), equipment/apparel purchasing, staff supervision (if applicable), academic monitoring, and general supervision of student-athletes.
- Provides input into the selection of games and tournaments in which to participate.
- Oversees the development of Esports program at Indiana University Kokomo.
- Recruits and retains student-athletes for the Esports program.
- Collaborates with the Office of Admissions for recruiting and enrolling prospective students-athletes.
- Ensures that program recruiting, and activities adhere to University, NAIA, and participating Esports competition conference policies and procedures.
- Stays up to date on trends, strategies, and Esports Conference changes.
- Provides leadership for the team; establish coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes¿ skills and teamwork; analyze team performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Coordinates off-season practice and competition schedules.
- Assists with team travel when necessary.
- Running campus, clinics and promotional events (if applicable).
- Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with University values and mission.
- Monitors, assists, and nurtures student-athletes¿ academic progress at the University.
- Social media management including Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and Facebook.
- Oversees broadcast production of matches for the program.
- Manages IUK's Esports Facility ensuring its cleanliness, functionality, and security.
- Builds high quality relationships with local Esports programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the athletic director.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge and experience across multiple games including but not limited to: League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Marvel Rivals, Valorant or similar games
- 2 years of experience in coaching competitive Esports and/or competing experience involving team-based multiplayer online video games
Required
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University

- Ability to recruit prospective student-athletes (high school or transfers)
- Ability to work with a wide variety of students, faculty, administrators, and professional colleagues
- Proficient in written and oral communication skills
- Strong understanding of technology
- A valid driver's license and ability to travel
