Position Summary
Inspection Department Manager will be responsible for performing and supervising routine inspections, testing, and providing subsequent documentation of Electrical, Sprinkler, and Suppression life safety systems, including competitive manufacturers' product lines along with supporting the district’s deficiency program.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures that the Test & Inspect group meets company gross profit objectives through field productivity, scheduling, maximizing billings, and controlling expenses.
- Review inspection schedules and manpower resources. Assign and manage employees to maximize inspection objectives, maintain quality and attain production goals and timelines.
- Ensures testing/inspection contract obligations are met while quickly resolving any customer complaints concerning service to minimize customer concerns and enhance customer relations.
- Responsible for maintaining district’s target on-time inspection levels.
- Ensure inspections are being performed in the allotted time and in a thorough manner by conducting QA inspections.
- Perform field testing and inspections of various types of fire life safety systems including electrical, sprinkler, and suppression.
- Provide Manager oversight for an inspection group, input for mid-year and end of year performance, provide hiring and training of new inspectors, and provide conflict resolution.
- Deliver inspector deficiency identification training to ensure all code compliant deficiencies and recommendations are identified on inspection reports.
- Assist the Service Manager in managing the deficiency process that may include the direct supervision of the Inside Deficiency Sales team.
- Ensure that the Test & Inspect group complies with Company safety programs and requirements. Responsible to help ensure that employee safety training is thorough, complete, and up-to-date.
- Assist as required and instruct/train new and existing administration and dispatch personnel in specific job procedures including scheduling of field staff and report writing.
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED required; 2-4 year degree in technical field from accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum 5--10 years of experience inspecting, testing, and documenting various types life safety systems.
- 5 years of Department supervisory experience with Revenue and margin experience.
- NICET Level II Certification, or higher, in Fire Alarm System Inspection & Testing and Water-Based System Inspection & Testing preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory/leadership skills to include training, team building, and effective interaction with customers.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Must be able to pass all company required background checks.
