Overview

Serves as overall Program Director for assigned programs. Provides direction to and oversight of unit functioning to ensure appropriate implementation of program activities schedules, treatment programming, treatment team staffing, unit and departmental meetings, education and training plans and schedules, performance improvement and other established operational plans, protocols and procedures.

Essential/Core Job-specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordinates clinical and administrative functions of assigned programs in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. Provides formal, direct supervision to each supervisee, as needed. Ensures appropriate supervision and direction for all other staff under his/her line of authority.
  • Assures completion of performance evaluation and feedback process for designated supervisees and the performance evaluation and feedback process for all other personnel under indirect supervisory control.
  • Develops or oversees development of ongoing education and training for assigned programs. Directly provides or arranges for ongoing programmatic orientation, on-the-job training, and continuing in-service education and training to staff in accordance with the approved plan and ongoing program needs. Ensures staff maintains training compliance. Collaborates with Personnel and Education and Training Departments.
  • Develops and revises (i.e., updates) program procedures and protocols necessary to define and describe the scope and conduct of patient care provided by program personnel. Maintains up-to-date master (i.e., original) procedures and posts on intranet. Oversees and coordinates implementation of program procedures. Monitors unit functioning to verify appropriate implementation, compliance and adequacy of established plans and procedures. Initiates revision or update of written plans and procedures as necessary and appropriate. Conducts and documents an annual review and update of all program and nursing procedures and protocols for each unit.
  • Conducts or arranges for ongoing staff meetings and documents minutes in accordance with Agency Policy 100-6 for unit, facility-wide and ad hoc meetings as necessary to ensure appropriate communication of key information to all staff and attends weekly Program Directors meeting and all Centerwide supervisors meeting. Services on designated Agency committees (e.g., PI committee).
  • Participates in development of program budgets and monitoring of fiscal and program performance.
  • Establishes annual performance indicators and planned improvements for assigned programs in conjunction with administration. Assures the review and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of care through implementation and coordination of the monitoring and evaluation/important aspects of care processes in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. Takes lead role in promoting and implementing performance improvement processes within assigned programs.
  • Audits clinical documentation on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with applicable treatment protocols, record keeping standards, and corporate compliance policies and procedures. Initiates follow-up as needed. Assures program compliance with all rules, regulations and standards (e.g., Agency, Joint Commission, AHCA, Medicaid/Medicare, etc.) which apply to assigned programs.
  • Reviews all incident reports. Oversees the programmatic review, investigation and corrective action processes to ensure appropriate documentation and resolution. Coordinates with PI/HR to provide information as necessary to reach appropriate closure of each incident. Participates in all mortality review meetings as assigned.
  • Participates in selected Treatment Team Meeting, inter-shift reports, and case staffing meetings on an ongoing basis to assess efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Reviews and updates assigned programmatic plans on an annual basis. Coordinates annual review and update of the plans.
