Brief Description
Job Objective: Under the direction of the Director of cardiovascular services performs a wide variety of diagnostic cardiac exams.

Required Licensure and/or Certifications:
Job Objective: Under the direction of the Director of cardiovascular services performs a wide variety of diagnostic cardiac exams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs various exams, including cardiac exams, 2D Echo, Doppler, color flow, stress echo, trans-esophageal, dobutamine stress echo and pediatric echocardiography.
- Know current technique for each specific exam.
- Operates all cardiac ultrasound equipment properly and skillfully.
- Identifies pathology and cardiac anatomy.
- Evaluates images for diagnostic content.
- Assists physicians.
- Responsible for the completion of all procedures
- Routinely prepares exams for interpretation by the cardiologist.
- Operates all cardiac ultrasound equipment properly and skillfully.
- Required to work on an on-call basis outside of his/her regularly scheduled work hours.
- Following regularly scheduled shifts or when the shift ends early as a result of flexed hours.
- Works independently after-hours and on holidays
- Demonstrates knowledge regarding special needs and behaviors of age specific groups.
- Participates in age specific educational and training programs.
- Demonstrates proficiency in required age specific competencies.
- Answers telephone.
- Schedules appointments
- Orders supplies
- Trouble-shoots equipment problems
- Contacts service for repairs
- Responds to change in scheduling.
- Rotate shifts and days as needed.
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Knowledge
- Has thorough knowledge of all aspects of cardiac anatomy.
- Skilled in cardiac sonographic positioning and techniques
- Ability to evaluate cardiac sonograms for technical excellence.
- Ability to operate and transport equipment.

- The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Work in a normal lab setting during daytime hours.
