What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee the procurement cycle from purchase order to payment of invoice
- Procure materials to support the portfolio assigned through negotiated, issued and maintained purchase orders
- Place orders using demand planning software with the understanding of how system forecasts drive ordering
- Utilize demand planning software to determine material, supply and processing needs
- Make purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures and policies
- Analyze and negotiate both pricing and contractual terms with suppliers
- Assist in establishing supplier agreements as required
- Assist Planning with forecasting to achieve the sales and margin goals
- Negotiate and manage MOQs and lead times of delivery of products
- Manage vendor relationships and performance issues
- Escalate appropriately whenever supplier performance is an issue that will impact the company’s ability to meet customer requirements
- Review open requirements and then expedite, delay or cancel orders where necessary in order to meet customer requirements
- Assure that both the product (part) specifications and product flow demands are followed
- Control costs and perform price analysis, being sure to escalate cost increases to Product Managers that may affect pricing and margins
- Maintain accurate purchasing documents, procedures and data
- Monitor the new product development process and assist with purchasing for new products
- Support sourcing activities as assigned
- Collaborate with team to accomplish department and company goals
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
- Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business or related field, preferred
- 1-5 years’ experience as a buyer or planner in the manufacturing industry
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics (365/NAV) a plus)
- Experience working with demand planning software (StockIQ or Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus)
- Advanced MS Office skills – Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
- Experience with project management software (Wrike or Microsoft Projects a plus)
- Must have excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and professional demeanor
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with contracts and specifications for component parts preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within guidelines established by the company
