A Mechanical Design Intern is responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining mechanical hardware for complex sstems in the product domain of Agriculture. This role involves applying expertise across a wide range of technologies, including ruggedized electronics, optical systems, and acoustic designs. Design work spans multiple manufacturing methods such as injection molding, casting, machining, and 3D printing. Mechanical Design Interns contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through production and eventual obsolescence. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow engineers, management, and customers to solve problems, implement cost reductions, drive product improvements, and perform root cause analysis. Success requires both technical capability and strong communication skills to translate ideas into effective solutions.

Your Impact

  • Prepare and interpret drawings and other visual aids
  • Aid in the modification of existing products
  • Aid in root cause analysis on mechanical systems
  • Conduct research activities including exploration and selection of new components
  • Design, coordinate, and conduct testing of mechanical systems, parts, and equipment
  • Participate in technical design reviews
  • Prepare technical design specifications

Your Experience And Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment
  • Preferred experience with CAD design
