Responsible for providing all departments with decontaminated and/or sterile supplies and supervises all Central Sterile Processing employees.
High school diploma or equivalent. College education preferred, Sterile Processing supervisory experience required, and knowledge of medical terminology required. Minimum of 5 year Sterile Processing experience required. Certification in Central Service or previous experience in sterilization is desirable. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required. Must have a good work and attendance record. Must have keyboard experience and basic computer skills. Must be able to take call, work weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work flexible scheduled hours.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

- Ensures compliance of all quality testing of sterilizers and instrument loads.
- Assists the Team Leader with staff scheduling.
- Monitors problems on the unit and takes corrective action as indicated.
- Serves as a resource person to staff and assist with workload when needed.
- Keeps current in practice knowledge by attending inservices, continuing education opportunities, or other formal or informal educational activities.
- Provides services in a cost effective manner and works with other departments to coordinate services.
- Assists Team Leader with staff competency assessments and performance evaluations.
- Assures compliance with various quality standards and regulatory agency requirements within the Medical Center.
- Identifies ongoing educational needs of the unit staff.
- Support and promote compliance with DCH Strategic Plan.
- Develops monitors and documents Performance Improvement and other related topics as needed.
- Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
- Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
- Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
