What You Will Do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. Amgen is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative Scientist to join the Genetic Medicines team in Thousand Oaks, CA. In this vital role you will be responsible for generating and communicating in vitro and in vivo data to support the development of novel RNA-based therapies and explore strategies for targeted delivery. Well-suited applicants will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach working in a team-based research environment. The successful candidate should have significant experience in flow cytometry and other cell-based assays as well as in vivo experience working with mice.

  • Perform complex procedures with mouse models

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD degree in related field with academic or industrial lab experience


Or

  • Masters degree and 2+ years of laboratory-based research experience in academic or industrial labs


Or

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of laboratory-based research experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • In vivo work experience with mice: handling, dosing (IV, IP, SC), blood collection, necropsy and tissue collection and processing for downstream applications
  • Demonstrated hands on experience in flow cytometry. Design and optimization of antibody panels for multiparametric analysis. Experience with tissue digestion and processing for flow staining is a plus (spleen, lung, liver, etc).
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian tissue culture and cell-based assays. Previous experience with immune cells and primary cultures is a plus.
  • Experience with fluorescent microscopy and immunostaining is desired.
  • Organizational and notebook/record keeping skills
  • Computer literacy, e.g., GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, show a desire to learn and be a part of a growing, highly productive cross-functional team
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work in a flexible team-oriented environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
