Position Summary

With constant supervision, operates hand grinding machine that shape steel forged bars or parts and removes defects and scale by performing the following duties.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Follows oral instructions to ascertain each job function
- Cleans dust, oil and grease from machines, piping and equipment.
- Cleans floors in plant area. Picks up refuse from plant grounds and maintains area.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, barrels, racks, and shelves by hand or with forklift or crane.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination by forklift or crane.
- Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel or metals into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
- Operates forklift or crane to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Operates sit down Tennant parking lot sweeper.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one with supervisors other employees of the Company.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
