Key Responsibilities
- You will develop electrical designs for PV and BESS systems, including one-line diagrams, layouts, wiring schematics, and equipment specifications. Perform detailed load flow, short-circuit, grounding, and protection coordination studies.
- You will size and specify electrical equipment, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-system (BOS) and bill-of-materials (BOM) components.
- You will prepare permit and construction drawing sets in compliance with NEC, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements.
- You will Support feasibility studies, energy yield assessments, and site evaluations.
- You will assist with technical sections of proposals, RFP responses, and cost estimation for electrical scope.
- You will provide engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning of PV and BESS systems.
- You will review shop drawings, submittals, and field change requests for compliance with design and code requirements.
- You will conduct site visits as needed to troubleshoot, verify installations, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- You will work closely with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers, as well as project managers and subcontractors.
- You will support procurement with technical evaluations of equipment and vendors.
- You will mentor junior engineers and designers, sharing expertise in solar electrical design and best practices.
- You Have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s preferred).
- You have 2+ years of experience in solar PV, renewable energy, or electrical power systems.
- You have: experience or strong knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This is required
- You have strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, UL, and ANSI standards.
- You have proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, ETAP, or SKM).
- You have experience with both roof-mounted and ground-mounted PV systems.
- You have familiarity with EV charging and microgrids is a plus.
- You have EIT or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- You have excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
