Position Summary:
Provides patient services in a Tertiary Care Heart, Vascular Center and Procedure Area. Manage, coordinate, and organize procedures used in invasive Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Procedure Area. Provide clinical care and perform procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, disability, impairment and illness. Deliver quality service and provide positive interaction with patients. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Position Summary:

Detailed Responsibilities:
- PATIENT CARE – Perform all invasive cardiac cath/cardiovascular procedures. Provide direct patient care services to inpatient and outpatient; participate in on-call services as required. Ensure proper consent has been obtained. Prepare and administer contrast media/agents
- MONITOR – Monitor Hemodynamic monitoring and documenting; as circulator or scrub assistant, document patient care activities; watch accuracy in waveform and hemodynamic analysis and measurement; Under license, assist with preparation and administration of medications; acquire a viable image; use proper sterile procedures
- COORDINATION - Use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to while performing invasive procedure and equipment changes as needed for individual patient care. Serve as liaison for assigned area; coordinate activities in collaboration with other staff professionals, patients, physicians, departments, and organizations
- EMERGENCY MEASURES - Assist with or begin emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
- MEDICAL RECORDS - Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information; obtain patient billing information
- INQUIRIES - Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
- ENVIRONMENT - Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards
- DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
- OTHER - A Spec Cardiovascular INV licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Respiratory Therapist, may perform the duties of an Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist, as delineated in the RN Inpt or Therapist Reg Resp job description, in areas outside of their hired cost center

Credentials:

- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 6 months
- RCES or RCIS w/in 6 months
- Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner
