Position Summary:

The SIT Program Manager is a dual-impact role responsible for driving and executing recruitment strategies for maintenance roles across multiple regions, while leading the execution of the Service Technician in Training (SIT) and Internship Programs. This individual must have a strong operational pulse to partner with Regional Leadership to proactively fill open maintenance roles, build a strong talent pipeline and enhance program outcomes through structured onboarding, mentorship and skills development. With a focus on high-touch recruiting, technical training coordination, and workforce planning, this position plays a critical role in developing a field-ready maintenance talent pipeline. A successful SIT Program Manager is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for full-cycle candidate recruitment for maintenance positions across assigned regions and positions, including proactive sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and recommending top talent; Prioritize timely and efficient hiring for current and budgeted positions
  • Maintain and update the Application Tracking System daily; Track and report key recruiting KPI such as time to fill, source effectiveness and retention benchmarks
  • Collaborate directly with Regional Maintenance Directors (RMDs), Regional Leadership and onsite mentors to assess workforce needs, stay attuned to regional hiring trends and prioritize requisitions
  • Lead end-to-end Intern and SIT recruitment, including outreach to university and technical schools, attending career fairs, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding top tier candidates
  • Manage onboarding and program readiness for Interns and SITs, ensuring housing logistics, program materials, and training plans are aligned regionally with a high touch experience
  • Partner with service mentors, RMDs and onsite leaders to ensure hands-on technical training is consistent and comprehensive per curriculum in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, etc.
  • Monitor participant progress and technical development, facilitate regular check-ins, and provide coaching, performance feedback and development support through training lifecycle to ensure success and knowledge gain
  • Partner with RMDs, field and onsite Leaders, Training & Development and the MIT & SIT Program Director to continuously evolve Intern/SIT training, curriculum content, materials, soft skills and training standards
  • Provide mentorship support to service leaders and program participants
  • Maintain all Intern/SIT program documentation, including training checklists, performance evaluation data, and certification tracking
  • Deliver program KPI’s, reporting and strategic insights to leadership on candidate pipeline, readiness and success metrics
  • Stay current on industry recruiting trends, trade school engagement and workforce development best practices
  • Actively participate in a positive team environment through teamwork, communication and excellence in service; Communicate regularly with the MIT & SIT Program Director and other teammates
  • Actively demonstrate the values of the Weidner Customer Service Vision to team members, associates and external customers

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of strong recruiting experience, preferably in the multi-family industry
  • 2 – 4 years of strong multi-family maintenance knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) with leadership and mentoring responsibilities
  • Ability to manage high-volume requisition count in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience managing or coordinating apprenticeship or internship training programs
  • Proficient in Application Tracking Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and able to quickly adopt new recruiting platforms
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; confident presenting, interviewing and collaborating across teams, leadership and within institutions
  • Strong project management skills with experience developing training materials, SOPs, and process documentation
  • Willing and able to learn new software programs; Prioritizes finding ways to streamline processes with technology
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basis
  • Experienced in Microsoft products required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing
  • Valid and current driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 25%
