Job Profile Summary

The Vice President (“VP”), eCapture leads and manages a global team that owns the ongoing acquisition of data from clients thru data extraction technology tools, data transformation processes, and delivery of data to the final product and services teams at Ryan. The VP, eCapture will also own a portfolio of strategic projects that support the long-term global data strategy towards real-time client data pipelines for consulting projects and software products. This is an external facing role where superior client service experience is required to facilitate superior client service and successful partnerships with technology vendors in the data space.

eCapture teams are expected to provide a mature data extraction and analysis services to support services and products using a wide range of technology solutions across all major industries. The VP is responsible for the orchestration across regional eCapture teams to ensure consistency in process, quality of deliverables, and ongoing improvement to client outcomes. The VP will work with and report to Sam Guevara, Transaction Tax Automation and Transformation and will collaborate with other executives at Ryan to develop, automate, and deliver iterative process and technology improvements to the data deliverables.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

People

  • Responsible for the provision of a challenging and stimulating environment for the eCapture teams, primarily through delivering quality leadership to direct reports and empowering them with the skills, tools, and resources to follow through with their respective projects
  • Responsible for assigning tasks to the eCapture team members or outside consultants and scheduling/monitoring work product for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
  • Creates a positive team member experience
  • Hiring, developing, mentoring, and motivating a team of high-performing directors, project managers, and data engineers
  • Ensures team roles have appropriate skills development content in place
  • Supports and coaches eCapture teams to improve client results through project management and communication competencies


Client

  • Manages client service failure escalations and remediations
  • Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities
  • Ensures clients and stakeholders are informed of key issues that may impact project completion or outcomes
  • Works with IT and Legal to ensure data privacy and governance practices are applied to client data deliverables according to firm expectations and policies
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and creativity to solve complex client data problems and eliminate roadblocks
  • Prepares and conducts client presentations
  • Travels to client locations to perform system(s) and data requirements gathering
  • Assists with client billing and financial forecasting
  • Communicate with state agencies, as necessary, with project teams to explain or demonstrate processes used to generate client data deliverables

  • Ensures team responds to client (internal and external) inquiries and requests timely and professionally, generally within 24 hours
  • Serves as the eCapture module(s) owner for the Ryan Process Management case management/workflow application
  • Works with Firm leadership to ensure work carried out by, or on behalf of the Firm, is in accordance with applicable SOP’s and working practices
  • Monitors and provides process oversight to ensure, on an ongoing basis, the quality of data deliverables produced is consistent and meets the highest standards
  • Applies discipline, precision, and leadership to project teams aimed at achieving projects on time and within budget parameters
  • Develops methods and materials to communicate status of initiatives and facilitate the sharing of best practices within the Practice, as necessary
  • Develops, maintains, and manages to metrics that assess KPI and SLA for client deliverables. Develops and implements countermeasures as necessary
  • Drives continuous improvement in processes by assessing performance trends across teams and identifying and acting upon necessary improvements timely
  • Identifies and carries out organizational goals and strategic initiatives with executives
  • Partners with the Innovation team to successfully transition data deliverables from emerging to mature processes
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education And Experience

A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Sciences is strongly preferred. Fifteen plus years of Project Management experience (PMP credential is a plus). Fifteen plus years of Process Excellence experience (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Agile is a plus). Ten plus years of management and people development experience with increasing accountability for client-facing project outcomes and revenue generation. Fifteen years in an internal or external client service role. Experience managing a revenue-generating business unit at a client service organization.

The candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, is enthusiastic, positive, and willing to learn. Accounting experience not required but is an asset.

Computer Skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. SAP ERP knowledge, ABAP programming, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2014, SQL DTS/SSIS, DB Management (manager level and above), VBA programming, data mining, data analysis, data warehousing.

  • Knowledge of BPM, RPA, and data/analytics, and/or reporting technology tools (command of at least one highly desirable)
  • Command of software configuration, development, and deployment practices
  • Knowledge of value stream mapping, process engineering, and workflow design
  • Experience or understanding of the indirect tax or property tax industry


Certificates And Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license required.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in their practice and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firms’ policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement: 30 to 50%.
