We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level IT Specialist 1 to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of software development, testing and deployment. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, along with basic helpdesk support experience is a plus. This position will be located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM.

Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming with some experience in any OOP programming languages like Java.
- Provide first-level helpdesk support to internal users for hardware, software, and system issues (Windows).
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot basic issues on Windows servers
- Assist in maintaining and updating system documentation
- Collaborate with senior developers and IT staff on enhancements and bug fixes
- Perform routine system administration tasks and patch management
- Support onboarding of new users (hardware/software setup, account provisioning)
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting (IP configuration, connectivity, DNS, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 family of applications
- Understanding of Microsoft Windows OS and common administrative tasks
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Some exposure to networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)
- Experience with ticketing systems or IT service desk tools
- Understanding of version control (e.g., Git) is a plus
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
