The Executive Director, Technology Solutions Leader is a senior level role responsible for developing Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) externally facing technology solutions business. Reporting to the Chief Digital Information Officer, this leader will build relationships with internal and customer partners, identify and drive strategic partnerships, and incubate solutions for commercialization that help to better serve patients and clinicians.

Initially, This Leader Will Focus On Two Primary Missions

  • Mature Community Connect – Professionalize BMCHS’ EHR and technology solutions offering to the Community Health Centers within Boston HealthNet
  • Build our customer technology solutions operating model ensuring services are standardized, delivered fast, and aligned with customer needs and business goal

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

Strategy & Engagement

  • Build robust relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for customers and prospects
  • Partner with leaders within and outside the system to align strategic goals with technology capabilities
  • Drive our Community Connect technology strategy including the development of solution offerings, pricing and packing models, and go to market content
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement in EHR solutions
  • Translate technical concepts into business terms and vice versa, ensuring alignment on priorities and timelines
  • Serve as an executive sponsor ensuring client satisfaction, solution usage, and timely billing

Solution Operating Model

  • Develop organization operating model to evolve from current service-based to an agile solutions-based organization
  • Build a dedicated team focused on solution development and customer success
  • Develop standardized tools and processes to ensure consistent development, implementation, and integration across BMCHS IT and customer IT environments
  • Develop standardized workflows, policies, and training programs in alignment with systemwide best practices
  • Partner with operational and clinical leadership at partner sites to tailor BMCHS strategies to local needs without deviating from enterprise standards
  • Evangelize agile ways of working within and outside of IT
  • Define budget and staffing requirements to accommodate current and future growth of the solutions organization

Research & Development

  • Conduct research to understand market trends, evolving needs, and/or unsolved customer pain points
  • Oversee development of end-to-end solutions for EHR, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, telehealth, and interoperability
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor usage and performance. Implement course-corrections when performance deviates from goals
  • Drive continued refinement of technology solutions
  • Implement portfolio management so that technical work is prioritized to provide the highest impact to customers and aligned with system strategy
  • Identify and incubate new technology solutions that can serve existing customers and/or expand to new customers
  • Implement initiatives that support clinical quality improvement, transitions of care, population health, and value-based care

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as a bridge between internal IT teams and external customer leadership
  • Facilitate solution demonstrations, business cases, and cost-benefit analyses for customers and/or potential customers
  • Partner with finance and marketing to maintain solution pricing and marketing materials

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, DPH, TJC if applicable)
  • Actively participate in system-level governance committees, ensuring network perspectives are represented and that decisions are deployed consistently.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the BMCHS IT leadership and network organizations, ensuring strategies and standards are consistently communicated and implemented

Job Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare and technology. Health System or Hospital network experience highly preferred
  • Experience with EPIC EHR modules – including Community Connect
  • Demonstrated track record of building relationships with executive-level internal and customer stakeholders
  • Exposure to business development, negotiations and influencing
  • Excitement about building a brand-new technology solution capability
  • Proven ability to navigate a highly complex, matrixed environment

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Healthcare consulting experience
  • Proven experience building and selling technology solutions to healthcare systems
  • Knowledge of technology and data operations, solution delivery models, and finance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Deep understanding of clinical and operational workflows in community and practice-based settings.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional solution implementations across EHRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athena), infrastructure, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, client-facing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, with a customer-centric mindset and consultative approach
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards, health data exchange, and cybersecurity best practices
