Radar Reinvented.

Echodyne offers the world's first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

At Echodyne, we believe radar makes the world safer and more secure in the age of autonomy. We are seeking a System Verification and Test Engineer II to join our fast-growing team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a System Verification and Test Engineer at Echodyne, you will be hands-on with our radar and software systems, ensuring our products meet rigorous internal requirements and customer expectations. You will own system verification testing from designing creative test plans that simulate real-world use, to executing them in the field, to providing detailed feedback on user experience for product improvement. Working at the intersection of product, research, and engineering teams, you will collaborate closely to translate requirements into effective test campaigns and ensure that test results drive meaningful design improvements. Because detection and tracking of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) are a key application for our radars, you will pilot UAS and lead small teams of pilots in the field, relying on clear flight team communication to ensure safe and effective test execution. Beyond day-to-day testing, you will develop and deploy specialized test equipment and help continuously improve our processes, methodologies, and safety culture. This is a hands-on role that blends engineering, leadership, and fieldwork, offering the opportunity to directly shape the way our cutting-edge radar systems are proven against some of the most challenging real-world threats.

  • Conceptualize, design, plan, and execute verification testing of radar and radar equipment subsystems
  • Coordinate across teams to understand product and research requirements to enable efficient and effective test execution
  • Lead a small team of UAS pilots or other test participants as needed to execute verification testing
  • Provide detailed feedback on hardware and software issues and user experience during testing for product improvement
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues identified during testing
  • Develop and deploy test equipment necessary for verification testing
  • Execute test procedures, collect test data, and document test results
  • Operate Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and hold a leadership position in the UAS operations and safety team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and safety practices

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with hardware and software verification testing
  • Ability to remain organized and work independently
  • Must be able to regularly lift, carry and move equipment, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required across North America

  • Experience with scripting (Python, Bash) for test automation
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and UAS operational best practices.
  • Experience with UAS maintenance
  • Experience working with cross-functional hardware/software product teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other similar engineering discipline or equivalent military/industry experience
  • 2 or more years in system test and verification
  • FAA Remote Pilot Certification (Part 107), or ability to complete certification within 90 days
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and eligibility to be insured under the company's vehicle insurance policy
  • Domestic travel as required, both air and ground; up to 25%
